--- WAITING TIME / WASTING TIME
In the work of Fito Conesa (Cartagena, 1980), video, music and installation devices come together to create an intricate and ethereal language, “the language of the planet where Duchamp is Rose Sélavy, and Yasumasa Morimura is Cindy Sherman’s illegitimate sister”. Places of transition and waiting, the emotiveness associated with melody and the relationship between spatial architecture and sound constitute some of the central themes in his oeuvre. For the piece Waiting time / Wasting time, Conesa worked in conjunction with three contemporary musicians: Olivier Alary, Yuko Ikoma and Miguel Leiria. His compositions accompany and punctuate this visual journey through various official buildings, in such a way that the instrumental and organisational function of the location finds its counterpoint in sound creation.
